TRANSPORTING PETS AND ANIMALS BY AIR
 
It is that time again when people all around the world are intending to go on vacation. For a large majority, it is simply a matter of locking up their property and heading off on holiday. What about those that are pet owners? I take it that your dog or cat did not really enjoy being left in those kennels last time round. If not are you considering flying to your vacation destination and taking your pet with you.

Alternatively, you journey may be a long term relocation to another state or another country. Once you have made up your mind to take your pet with you, it will be necessary to carefully consider the requirements for transporting pets by air.
 
As each airline will different with regards to transporting your pet by air, check with the airline before purchasing the ticket. Some airlines will not allow any pets to travel as cargo, while others will not all your pet to travel within the cabin. It would be worthwhile investigating the current regulations of the various airlines that offer a service along the route that you intend on taking. There was one situation where a dog was not given permission to be transported as the families veterinarian had administered a strong medication which resulted in the dog being almost unconscious. This resulted in a delay of a day to allow the dog to recover before being allowed to continue on the journey.

It will be important to make sure that sufficient food and water is supplied for your pet’s journey. When you take your pet with you they will be prevented from roaming freely, this may be a problem for some pets. It is always wise to take into consideration that the shock of flying for your pet could result in serious consequences. Before you do embark on transporting pets, take the time to found out all the necessary information, and then you will surely enjoy having your pet with you in your new location.
